Persistent Data Storage
The SurfStatsLive Reporting Service makes use of the sources as described below
to store and retrieve information as required.
Windows Registry
The Windows Registry is provided by the Microsoft Windows Operating System to
store and retrieve information. The Windows Registry stores information I a
“hive” type structure. The Registry Editor is one of the Windows Tools that can be
used to edit the contents of the registry. There should in general be no need to
edit the Registry to change information required by the SurfStatsLive Reporting

this database to validate Server Administrators.
The Windows User Database can either be the local Windows user database (also
called the SAM) or the user database stored on a Windows 2000 domain. The
Computer Management tool (Control Panel - Administrative Tools) is used to
configure users and groups for a local Windows user database. On a domain the
Active Directory Users and Computer tool (Control Panel - Administrative Tools) is
used.
Site Profile Databases
The Site Profile Databases are a collection of databases that stores information
about the configuration details and site activity information used during the
creation of website activity reports as requested by SurfStatsLive users. Each site
profile has its own site profile database. There is also a common site profile
database that stores global information.
IIS Metabase
The IIS Metabase is the database that IIS uses to store IIS configuration details.
The SurfStatsLive Reporting Service reads the IIS Metabase to obtain information
