Authentication of Profile Administrators
Profile Administrators are authenticated by the SurfStatsLive Reporting Service
and not by the Windows SAM database or by a Windows 2000 domain. The group
administrator details are stored by the SurfStatsLive Reporting Service when the
profile group is edited.
Authentication of SurfStatsLive Users
SurfStatsLive users are authenticated by the SurfStatsLive Reporting Service and
not by the Windows SAM database or by a Windows 2000 domain. The user
accounts (called site profiles) are created by Profile Administrators from the
SurfStatsLive Reporting Service Profile Administration web interface.
Checklist Server Administrator Setup
Decide whether authentication should be performed locally by each server (SAM)
running the SurfStatsLive Reporting Service OR centrally by a Windows 2000
domain. Run the Global Setup application and on the Authentication tab set up
the authentication provider (based on the decision, see Setting up Authentication
in the SurfStatsLive Installation section).
SurfStatsLive:
1.
Select SurfStatsLive as the method of authentication in the SurfStatsLive
Global Setup Application.
Locally (SAM):
1.
Create local group (or use existing group) with a Windows Administration
Tool like Computer Management (Control Panel Administrative Tools
Computer Management Local Users and Groups - Groups).
2.
Create local user account(s) if required (Control Panel Administrative
Tools Computer Management Local Users and Groups - Users).
3.
Add user(s) to group with the Computer Management tool.
4.
Specify WinNT://<computername> in the SurfStatsLive Global Setup
Application.
